What are they for?

Your eyes will normally produce just enough natural tears to allow them to move easily and comfortably. If your eyes do not produce enough tears they can become dry, red and painful. Minims Artificial Tears can be used as a substitute for natural tears. They will help to keep your eyes comfortable.

Before using Minims Artificial Tears ?

If you known you are allergic to any of the ingredients listed in the section "About Minims Artificial Tears" above, then tell your doctor or eye specialist before using Minims Artificial Tears.

If you are (or think you might be) pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding a baby, tell your doctor or eye specialist. You may still be given Minims Artificial Tears, but it is possible that an alternative may be used.

Minims Artificial Tears can blur your vision for a short time. Do not try to drive or use dangerous machinery until you
are sure that your sight has returned to normal.

As Minims Artificial Tears contains boric acid it should not be used in infants and children under three years old.

Using Minims Artificial Tears

The amount of Minims Artificial Tears used will depend on the symptoms. The usual dose is one or two drops in each
affected eye, three or four times a day, but your doctor or eye specialist may have given you different instructions. If so,
make sure you follow their advice carefully.

If you are putting in your own drops then follow these instructions carefully :

  • 1. Peel the overwrap apart and take out the Minims unit.

  • 2. Twist off the cap.

  • 3. Look upwards and gently pull down the lower eyelid.

  • 4. Hold the Minims unit just above your eye and gently squeeze until a drop of liquid falls into the gap between your eyeball and lower eyelid.

  • 5. Release the lower eyelid.

Remember to throw away the Minims unit when you have finished.

If is very unlikely that you will suffer an overdose from using Minims Artificial Tears, but if you suddenly feel unwell after using them, contact a doctor or the nearest casualty department as soon as possible.

After using Minims Artificial Tears

Minims Artificial Tears are not expected to cause you any serious side effects. Your eyes may sting a little when the
drops are put in and your vision may become blurred. These effects will wear off within a few minutes. If you do experience any unpleasant effects after using Minims Artificial Tears, tell you doctor or eye specialist.

If your eyes are still red and sore after one or two days treatment, or if they feel worse than before, stop using Minims
Artificial Tears and consult your doctor or eye specialist.
